Reduce corrosion risk with ZERUST® ICT®510-C VCI film.Reducing corrosion risk is critical when protecting metal parts during storage and shipment. Without proper protection, exposure to humidity and contaminants can quickly lead to rust, product damage, and costly failures.

ZERUST® ICT®510-C VCI film is engineered to reduce corrosion risk for ferrous metals using advanced Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) technology. Backed by laboratory testing, this solution provides proven protection even in extreme high-humidity environments.

Tested to Reduce Corrosion Risk in High-Humidity Conditions

Reduce corrosion riskTo validate performance, ZERUST® ICT®510-C film was tested under ASTM D1735 high-humidity conditions, exposing metal samples to:

  • 98–100% relative humidity
  • 38 ± 2°C (100 ± 4°F)
  • Continuous exposure over time

Steel disks were cleaned, polished, and sealed in packaging materials before being placed in a humidity chamber.

Test Comparison

Two packaging scenarios were evaluated:

  • ZERUST® ICT®510-C VCI film
  • Plain polyethylene film (control, no VCI)

Test Results Show How ZERUST® Film Helps Reduce Corrosion Risk

ZERUST® ICT®510-C Film: Designed to Reduce Corrosion Risk

  • 90-day exposure
  • Corrosion Grade: A (No Visible Corrosion)
  • Consistent protection across all samples

Plain Polyethylene: Fails to Reduce Corrosion Risk

  • Corrosion observed within 21 days
  • Corrosion Grade: E (Severe Corrosion >25%)

What These Results Mean

The results clearly show that standard polyethylene packaging does not prevent corrosion. In contrast, ZERUST® ICT®510-C film significantly reduces corrosion risk, even in aggressive environments.

Backed by lab testing and real-world performance, ZERUST® solutions are engineered to protect your metal parts in even the harshest environments.

How ZERUST® VCI Technology Works

ZERUST® ICT®510-C film releases proprietary VCI molecules into the enclosed packaging environment. These molecules:

  • Form an invisible protective layer on metal surfaces
  • Interrupt the electrochemical corrosion process
  • Protect metal without direct contact

Unlike many competitors that rely on generic multimetal formulations, ZERUST® uses a targeted chemistry designed specifically for ferrous metals, improving performance and reliability.
