How ZERUST® Axxanol™ 707C works as an engine storage rust preventative
ZERUST® Axxanol™ 707C is a vapor-only corrosion inhibitor concentrate used as an additive in compatible lubricating oils. When blended at approximately 3 to 10 percent, it releases protective VCI molecules into the enclosed system.
These molecules migrate through the airspace and bond to exposed metal surfaces inside voids. This provides up to two years‡ of corrosion protection in closed systems.
Axxanol™ 707C is compatible with most engine, diesel, hydraulic, and gearbox oils, excluding PAG-based oils. It delivers multimetal protection for ferrous metals, cast aluminum, and brass components.

Extended engine storage rust preventative protection with Axxanol™ 710C
For longer storage durations, ZERUST® Axxanol™ 710C provides enhanced dual-action corrosion protection. It combines contact protection with vapor-phase inhibition to protect internal surfaces more comprehensively.
Axxanol™ 710C delivers up to five years‡ of corrosion protection in closed systems. It releases VCI molecules that migrate into hard-to-reach internal areas while also maintaining a protective oil film on wetted surfaces.
Like 707C, it is compatible with a wide range of lubricating oils and elastomers. It is free from barium and heavy metals and complies with TSCA, RoHS, and REACH requirements.

Application best practices for engine storage
Both Axxanol™ 707C and 710C are simple to apply. Premix the concentrate with fresh lubricating oil before filling the system. Once filled, ZERUST® recommends rotating the engine or gearbox periodically, typically for one to two minutes per month. This helps distribute the inhibitor evenly throughout the system.
Before returning equipment to service, drain the preservation oil and refill the system with fresh operational oil to ensure optimal performance.
