Problem

A large automotive parts manufacturer had 12 different flat VCI bags at their facility for separate applications. Many of the VCI bags were ordered by the manufacturer without comparing the bags to other bags they order at their other plants and manufacturing lines, resulting in higher VCI costs. Most of the VCI bags were used to line totes for shipping parts to manufacture plants for further assembly.

Solution

A local ZERUST® representative visited the manufacturing facility to conduct an audit to establish the exact size bag required for each of their totes. Next, ZERUST® reviewed the annual usage for each tote and bag size. After the quantities and sizes needed were determined, ZERUST® could reduce the number of VCI bags from 12 to 7 by using a common bag size for multiply tote sizes. This allowed for an increased number of bags to be produced during manufacturing, which lowered their expenses on VCI bags, while also saving floor space.
