ZERUST® EcoCap™ 10 Capsule

The ZERUST® EcoCap™ 10 Capsule is a fully paper-based recyclable VCI emitter designed for enclosed industrial and electrical applications. It incorporates ZERUST® Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) that protect exposed metal surfaces from corrosion caused by humidity and atmospheric contaminants during operation, shipping, and storage while providing an environmentally responsible alternative to conventional plastic VCI emitters.

The EcoCap™ 10 provides multimetal corrosion protection for ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, brass, and zinc. It’s proven Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) technology protects exposed metal surfaces throughout enclosed environments.

Once installed inside an enclosed space, the EcoCap™ 10 continuously releases invisible, odorless, and non-toxic Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI). These molecules form a protective molecular layer on exposed metal surfaces, preventing corrosion caused by humidity and atmospheric contaminants. When users open the enclosure, the VCI dissipates naturally, allowing immediate painting, welding, assembly, or further processing.

A single EcoCap™ 10 Capsule protects up to 10 ft³ (0.28 m³)^‡ of enclosed space for up to 1 year^‡ under normal environmental conditions (SO₂ levels below 0.2 ppm).

For maximum corrosion protection, install the EcoCap™ 10 Capsule using one of the following placement methods:

• Center: Provides the most even VCI distribution whenever possible.
• Corners: Use diagonally opposite corners for deeper enclosures.
• Sides: Suitable for most industrial and electrical applications.

Always minimize airflow into the enclosure to maintain the protective VCI concentration. For ventilated enclosures, install the capsule near the airflow source and consider adding a second capsule near critical metal components.

Yes. When airflow continually enters or exits an enclosure, mount the EcoCap™ 10 Capsule near the airflow source. For additional corrosion protection, install another capsule closer to the sensitive metal components being protected.

Store unused capsules in their original sealed plastic packaging in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. For best performance, store below 85°F (29°C) and 50% relative humidity. Under these conditions, EcoCap™ 10 Capsules have a shelf life of up to 1 year from the shipment date.

Yes. EcoCap™ 10 Capsules are classified as articles under UN GHS, US OSHA HazCom, and CA WHMIS regulations and do not pose a health hazard under normal use conditions. Keep capsules out of reach of children and do not disassemble the capsule.

Yes. Unlike traditional plastic VCI emitters, the EcoCap™ 10 Capsule is manufactured entirely from FSC-certified recyclable cardboard and paper-based components. After use, recycle the entire capsule in accordance with local recycling requirements.
