Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY Non-Ferrous Film is the latest generation of corrosion inhibiting plastic packaging made with a new active formulation that provides corrosion protection in challenging environments as well as chemical scavenging technology to neutralize any hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, or chlorides that may be present. The G4 corrosion inhibiting formulation is non-toxic, odorless and does not contain heavy metals.
The Problem
Non-ferrous metals, such as copper, bronze, brass and silver, tarnish (corrode, oxidize) in the presence of oxygen. The speed of this corrosion process may rapidly accelerate in the presence of acid gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide which are commonly found at higher concentrations in the atmospheres near industrial centers.
Tarnish or corrosion of non-ferrous metal not only diminishes their aesthetic value, but also their mechanical integrity. This leads to costly scrap, customer rejections and rework.

Will Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY still work if the packaging material has small punctures or tears?
Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY provides corrosion protection via the combination of a volatile corrosion inhibitor (VCI) formulation that provides active protection inside the package and acid gas scavenging technology that absorbs gases as they pass through the package. The special Zerust® formulations have been impregnated into the plastic during manufacture. While small holes and tears should not significantly impair the VCI protection, it is always best maintain the integrity of the packaging. If holes or tears are detected, it is recommended that either these are sealed with plastic tape or that the entire Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY packaging is replaced.
What actions should be taken in order to maximize the corrosion protection performance of Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY?
It is always recommended to ensure all metal parts are properly cleaned and dried before packing them in Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY. Always wear clean, lintfree gloves when handling metal, and never touch metal surfaces with bare skin. Seal the Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY packaging as quickly as possible after packing. Store the sealed package in a dry shelter away from direct sunlight and rain.
How long can Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY protect metal from corrosion?
Clean, properly packed and stored metals can be protected from corrosion by Zerust® ICT®510G4-CY for up to five (5) years. In order to ensure maximum effectiveness, please contact a Zerust® representative to help you design the appropriate corrosion protection system for your needs.
